This is the Tree Climbers International (TCI) course that started it all! It’s taught worldwide as the introductory class to canopy access and exploration. It’s also the foundation to all of our classes at Tree Climbing Planet. The BTCC covers the skills needed to climb a large deciduous tree (example Oak, Maple, Walnut, etc) on your own using Doubled Rope Technique (DRT/MRS).
Information regarding safety protocol, selecting a good climbing tree, knot tying, line setting / tree access, ascending and descending climbing techniques, equipment talk (proper usage and care), canopy movement (lateral and vertical), tree climbing etiquette and safety for the climber and the tree are all covered in detail. There is ample time for practicing all of the skills you are learning under the guidance of your instructor.
